Fee Structure

Option 1:
R70 000, 00 for the 18 month course (Inclusive of VAT) (R20 000.00 deposit payable by end November 2012 and the balance within 4 months of commencement of the course) i.e. R12 500.00 end of January, R12 500.00 end of February, R12 500.00 end of March and R12 500.00 at the end of April 2013.

Option 2:
R75 000, 00 for the course (R20 000, 00 deposit by end November 2012 and the balance paid off over 10 months @ R5500, 00 per month.

Diploma in Patisserie:
if the student would like to do this diploma it is an additional R20 000.00 – arrangements can be made directly with the school.

*Please note school fees are exempt from Value Added Tax. City & Guild International exam fees are included but as we budgeting 18 months ahead of time, students may be requested to pay the shortfall on the foreign exchange for this exam (no more than R500.00 excluding VAT).


Fees Include:

All ingredients, 3 sets of uniforms, a basic knife set, all short courses and basic international exam fees, Introduction to South African wine, Food and wine pairing, Health and safety and First aid is included in our cost.

Not included: Personal toolbox – a list of basics will be supplied on registration.


Other Activities

Students get the opportunity to work at various facilities during their course to gain experience in order to be well versed in the hospitality industry when entering their mentorship.


Accommodation

Limited accommodation for girls only at this stage is available on a first come first serve basis.

The Eden School of Culinary Art is situated in George and is part of the François Ferreira Academy. We have a good reputation for training chefs of quality. In the last 7 years all our students have been placed in top facilities for their mentorship and with the result have found excellent jobs. What type of qualification?

Diploma in Culinary Art

We present City & Guilds Diploma in Culinary Art course. This course runs over 18 months – the first 10 months at the Eden School of Culinary Art, after which students do a 6 month mentorship in the industry. We run the certificate and diploma program concurrently, but you only write the Diploma Examinations. Once the students return from mentorship, we work with them to prepare for their International City and Guilds (C&G) Practical and Theoretical Examinations.

Diploma in Patisserie

We have accreditation to present a Diploma in Patisserie. Students who wish to do the Diploma in Patisserie will do the general Culinary Art course initially and then on returning from mentorship spend a month in the specialist Patisserie phase at the school.

What makes our courses special

We take a maximum of 16 students. Therefore you are assured of individual attention. Over and above the subjects for City & Guilds we are the only school to offer the following specialized add-on courses:

  • Cake decorating and sugar work
  • Hospitality financial management
  • French - spoken and written
  • Event Management

All the subjects are facilitated by professionals in their respective fields. Guest lecturers also present various specialist lectures such as workshops on plating, styling etc.
